Agios Nikolaos (pedestrian street)

Central pedestrian street in the center of the city with many shops with food and cafes and shops. 

The street offers access to: 

• 1 pedestrian street/square (Freedom Square). 
• 1 playground.

Wheelchair access is possible (i.e. there are no stairs, narrow openings below 90cm wide, etc.).

Caution: On the sidewalks there are significant obstacles and/or steps (stairs, etc.).

The surface material is made of concrete slabscobblestones.

At all existing crossings there are ramps for wheelchair access.

The ramps are free of items blocking wheelchair access, such as bars or columns.

There is no tactile guide for the blind.

On the sidewalk, at the end to the road surface, there are columns/bars.

There are no areas with protruding branches of trees less than 2.20m above the ground.

All trees on the sidewalks have protective grates.

None of the traffic lights have sound signaling.

There are no traffic lights with visual countdown alert.

All signs, traffic lights and/or other elements placed on road poles are safely placed at 2.20m or higher above the ground.

Signs, traffic lights and other kinds of pole-hanging elements are placed one plate per pole.

Around baskets or rubbish bins there is always a free width of 90cm (on the pavement) left for pedestrian crossing.

Public phones, mailboxes, etc. are accessible and at an appropriate height for wheelchair users (i.e. without blocking stairs/step, with controls placed at 90cm above the ground, etc.).

Around the benches that exist, there is always additional space for wheelchair users.

There is street lighting at night, and it is considered sufficient.
