Municipal Tobacco Museum

General description

It was built around the end of the decade of 1900 as a tobacco warehouse by the Turkish tobacco merchant Kizi Mimin. The building now belongs to Kavala’s City Council which refurbished it so that it can house a wide variety of cultural activities and events.

Note: There are exhibits, signs or labels placed horizontally at exhibition stands and at inappropriate heights for wheelchair users to be able to easily see/read.

All signs and labels are non-reflective, with clear typeface and font size, with high contrast, without excessive use of capital fonts, colored fonts, etc.

There are no exhibit signs in Braille or embossed.

All exhibition stands are easily identifiable by white cane users.

There are exhibits in tactile formats available.

There are replicas of exhibits/artefacts that can be bought (e.g., of interest for blind visitors).

The automated guide system available is not accessible/usable by blind/deaf users.

The educational/informational activities held are always taking places in accessible spaces and through accessible set-ups.

The presentations given are not accessible.

There is good lighting to support those who lip read.
