Coastal wall

General description
It is located opposite the parking lot of Kavala Customs, on the east side of the port.
The strong walls of the Tesian colony were probably constructed in the early 7th century BC. Most of the wall is a work of the period 1520-1536. After the destruction of 1391 and with additional cause of natural decay, the newly built walls of the 16th century were built on the ruins of the earlier historical phases.
The first projects to strengthen the fort took place in 1425, during the hostilities between Turks and Venetians. The fortified city extended its boundaries and "descended" from its natural fortification position, to include a flat section of land next to the port. The city walls reflect the long history of its 27 consecutive centuries of life.
Today it is a great place for walking, cycling and resting. The visitor who will walk along the wall has the opportunity to admire the Imaret, the preserved buildings that are joined by the wall and the wonderful balcony of the "General's House".

There is also an automatic system for the disposal/rental of shared bicycles.
