Association of people with juvenile diabetes "Glykia Agkalia (Sweet Embrace)"

General description

The Association of Insulin Dependent Persons with Juvenile Diabetes type 1 N. Kavala "Sweet Hug" is a non-profit association. 

He is the primary socio-union body, a member of the Panhellenic Federation of Associations – Associations of People with Diabetes Sugar (P.O.S.S.A.S.DIA.), as well as a member of the National Confederation of Persons with Disabilities (E.S.A.M.A.). 

"Sweet Hug" strives to improve the quality of life conditions of people with diabetes mellitus. It makes efforts to carry out its work consisting of information events, the organization of conferences and the psychological support of its members. 

In particular, they organize: 

  • Informative lectures with distinguished scientists in the field of diabetes mellitus. 
  • Training seminars in closed groups of members of the Association. The seminars aim at education on nutrition and everyday issues of diabetes, as well as psychological support issues. 
  • As part of the World Diabetes Day, free sugar measurements and printed material are distributed in the central square of Kavala, in collaboration with the General Hospital. 
  • Annual pie cutting to tighten relations between the members of the Association. 
  • Award of children-members of the Association who were awarded or succeeded in higher schools last year.
