General descriptionΣε ένα από τα κεντρικότερα σημεία της Καβάλας, στην πλατεία Γ. Παπανδρέου, στεγάζεται και λειτουργεί από το 1992 η επιχείρηση της Δημοτικής Αγοράς Καβάλας. Πρόκειται για ένα πενταώροφο ιδιόκτητο κτίριο περίπου 3.000 τ.μ. ανά όροφο, που περικλείεται από τις οδούς Ίωνος Δραγούμη, Καράνου, Αμύντα και Αριστοτέλους.
Το κτίριο αυτό, είναι διαμορφωμένο με τέτοιο τρόπο ώστε να είναι εύκολα προσβάσιμο αφού διαθέτει εισόδους και από τις τέσσερις πλευρές του, δύο ράμπες φορτοεκφόρτωσης, 6 ανελκυστήρες εσωτερικά και εξωτερικά και τριώροφο πάρκινγκ με θέσεις μόνιμων αλλά και ωριαίας στάθμευσης.
Η Δημοτική Αγορά διαθέτει τρεις ορόφους με καταστήματα πάσης φύσης.
- Το ισόγειο καλύπτεται εξ ολοκλήρου από γνωστό πολυκατάστημα και εξωτερικά κατάστημα ηλεκτρονικών ειδών και εξοπλισμού.
- Ο πρώτος όροφος στεγάζει μεγάλο αριθμό οπωροπωλείων, ποτών και ξηρών καρπών, ειδών ζαχαροπλαστικής, παντοπωλείων, κρεοπωλείων, καταστημάτων ένδυσης-υπόδησης αλλά και άλλων εμπορικών καταστημάτων (ειδών κηπουρικής και ανθοκομίας, κεραίες, ηλεκτρονικά, κυλικείο κ.ά.), ενώ στον ίδιο όροφο υπάρχει το Δημοτικό Βιβλιοδετείο καθώς και ταμεία για την εξόφληση των λογαριασμών ΔΕΥΑΚ και ΔΕΗ.
- Στο υπόγειο στεγάζονται ιχθυοπωλεία, το καφενείο «Η Παράδοση» και γραφεία του ΟΑΕΕ.
Η δυνατότητα αυτή του καταναλωτή να βρίσκει σε ένα χώρο συγκεντρωμένα εμπορικά καταστήματα που να μπορούν να καλύψουν τις περισσότερες καθημερινές του ανάγκες, παρκάροντας μάλιστα και το αυτοκίνητό του εύκολα, γρήγορα και με ασφάλεια στον ίδιο χώρο, καθιστά το κτίριο της Δημοτικής Αγοράς ένα από τα πιο πολυσύχναστα σημεία της πόλης.
Τα τελευταία χρόνια, έχουν γίνει πολλές παρεμβάσεις στο κτίριο όπως η ανακαίνιση του θόλου, των WC, του φωτισμού, της σήμανσης και των ανελκυστήρων. Επίσης έγιναν έργα αποκατάστασης ζημιών σε διάφορα σημεία του κτιρίου, νέες αποθήκες για τους καταστηματάρχες, ενώ εγκαταστάθηκε κλειστό σύστημα παρακολούθησης με κάμερες σε όλο το κτίριο, επέκταση και εκσυγχρονισμός των συστημάτων πυρόσβεσης και πυρανίχνευσης. Επίσης ανακαινίσθηκε ο χώρος των ιχθυοπωλείων, τοποθετήθηκαν ρολά ασφαλείας στις εισόδους των κοινόχρηστων χώρων, ελαιοχρωματισμοί σε πολλά σημεία του κτιρίου, ενώ έχουν εγκριθεί και νέα έργα όπως η αντικατάσταση του δώματος του αίθριου χώρου στάθμευσης και η αντικατάσταση του ηλεκτρονικού συστήματος πάρκινγκ.

Caution: Some obstacles are not well outside the minimum required width of 90 cm. The obstacles were found to be placed/mounted along both sides of the corridors. Some mounted obstacles were not found to be projected to the floor and it may not be easily identified by white cane users without risk to get injured.
