General description

«Παιδί της πόλης» σχεδόν στο κέντρο, κοντά στο πάρκο του Φαλήρου, για όσους δεν μπορούν να απομακρυνθούν από την πόλη.

Ακτή του Δήμου Καβάλας, οργανωμένη και με ελεύθερη είσοδο.

Είναι βραβευμένη με τη Γαλάζια Σημαία.

Μπορεί κανείς να φτάσει με τα λεωφορεία Νο1, Νο4, Νο5, Νο8 και Νο10.

Στην ακτή λειτουργούν μία ταβέρνα και αναψυκτήρια.

Έχει νότιο προσανατολισμό, μήκος 410 μέτρα, ενώ το μέσο πλάτος της εκτιμάται 15 μέτρα. 

Το χερσαίο τμήμα της ακτής και ο θαλάσσιος πυθμένας της είναι στο σύνολό του αμμώδες. 

Τα κολυμβητικά ύδατα στα πρώτα μέτρα είναι αβαθή, ενώ και η κλίση του πυθμένα είναι ήπια, αφού η ισοβαθής των 5 μέτρων απαντάται σε απόσταση της τάξης των 100 μέτρων από την ακτή. 

Η παραλία είναι οργανωμένη καθ' όλο το μήκος της διαθέτοντας υποδομές όπως ξαπλώστρες, ομπρέλες, κάδους απορριμμάτων, WC και ντους. Κατά μήκος του παραλιακού οδικού δικτύου της περιοχής λειτουργούν εστιατόρια και αναψυκτήρια για την εξυπηρέτηση των αναγκών του κοινού.

Accessibility description

There is a ramp to access the beach from the maritime museum. However, there is only the cement that is above the beach for the movement of the carts and then there is only sand. There is a wooden corridor opposite the 6th High School of Kavala.

The beach/swim area is properly 'connected' to pedestrian route/zone, square or PoI that has been evaluated:

The is not 'connected' to any parking spaces/areas nearby.

The beach is properly 'connected' to nearby bus stops.

The beach is not properly 'connected' to nearby accessible restrooms/changing areas.

The beach is claimed to be accessible to persons with disability (e.g., there is an appropriate sign/claim at the entrance).

The lifeguards have received special training for serving/saving persons with disability.

Inside the beach area, there are no appropriate corridors/paths of fixed material, so that a wheelchair user or a person with mobility problems can move around freely and access all facilities.

Sidewalks and raised platforms inside the swim area, they are not accessible to wheelchair users.

At sheltered spaces there are no appropriate provisions for wheelchair users.

The umbrellas, seats, tables and sunbeds available are user-friendly to person with motor limitations.

The are umbrellas, seats, tables and subeds reserved especially for users with disability (free space for wheelchair 0.8 X 1.3 m, etc.).

Note: The spaces reserved for users with disability are not properly marked (e.g., with the International Symbol for Access).

Note: The exisiting dusters, water fountains, shower handles, etc. are place at inappropriate heights for wheelchair users.

Note: There are no pathways that are easily identifiable by white cane users and visitors with restricted vision, and the information signs have no Braille or other means appropriate for blind users.

The bus stop can be accessed with a wheelchair (pathway free of obstacles, such as steps, narrow passages under 90cm, etc.).

The stop is not properly connected to the TGSI network for the blind.

The bus stop is sheltered (e.g., for rain, sun, wind).

The shelter is at least 1.4 m wide.

There are transparent panels used for wind protection, but they do have coloured bands at least 15 cm wide at a height of 1.4 - 1.6 m from the ground.

Seats for waiting passengers do exist.

The seats are user-friendly (up-right, separate arms, colour contrasted).

By the standard seats there is also free space (at least 85 cm wide) that can be used by wheelchair users.
